Dr. Nagarkar completed her Ph.D. in Anthropology in 2001 and has an extensive teaching and research experience of over 20 years.

Her lab focuses on research in social epidemiology on non-communicable diseases, gerontology and reproductive health. Dr. Nagarkar’s research study covers a broad spectrum to identifying social and behavioral determinates of hypertension, diabetes in rural and impoverished pockets in urban areas with intention to prepare intervention modules for behavioral change and indigenous tools for assessment of perception of these diseases, quality of life of elderly Indian, social determinates and behavioral factors in maternal health. She has fruitful international collaborations with University of Southeast Norway, Norwegian University of Science & Technology, and Penn State University
