Real World Evidence and New Age Clinical Trials – Dr. Santosh Dixit

Dr. Santosh Dixit is working as a Consultant in Persistent Systems (Life Sciences and Healthcare). Being a clinical pharmacologist in cancer, his prior experience in conducting clinical trials led to a new approach.

Dr. Santosh commenced a lecture on real world evidence and new age clinical trials. He explained about the modern and emerging ways of clinical trials at the background of development of real-world evidence.

AYUSH and Integrative Health – Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan

Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice-Chairman, University Grants Commission, is a leading Scientist in India working in the field of biomedical research to confer scientific evidence to traditional medicine systems.

Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan commenced a masterclass in the natural ambience of the botanical garden of Savitribai Phule Pune University. He explained the importance of integration amongst AYUSH systems for health and wellbeing. He also explained how Ayurveda may offer cues for natural product drug discovery.

An Inquisitive Mind Leads to Novel Discoveries – Dr. Sundeep Salvi

The speaker of this Masterclass was Dr. Sundeep Salvi, Director of Chest Research Foundation (CRF) and an Adjunct Professor at the Savitribai Phule Pune University and Symbiosis International University.

Dr Salvi shared his experiences of being a researcher and how having an inquisitive and critical mind can lead to novel discoveries. Despite being a chest physician, he has generated novel hypotheses on how to prevent heart attacks and how our current understanding of diabetes is flawed and needs a new direction. He spoke about his journey of how he became a researcher and how having an inquisitive mind can lead to many novel discoveries.

Effortless Weight Loss and Diabetes Prevention – Dr. Jagannath Dixit

Dr. Jagannath Dixit is a professor and head of Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College and Hospital, Latur. He has received several awards for his commendable contribution in the field of Health Education.

Dr. Jagannath Dixit in this masterclass explained the biochemical concept of insulin release by pancreatic cells. He also described how managing a diet with intermittent fasting may lead to effortless weight loss and diabetes prevention. He shared his experience about his campaign “World free from obesity and diabetes”. Dr Dixit explained many case studies of people who followed his ‘two- meals a day’ plan.

Ayurveda Practice to Meet Challenges of the Modern Era – Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar

In this informative masterclass, Dr. Suhas Kshirsagar, an Ayurvedic physician shared his inspiring journey and how the basic information from school will help to develop ideas to transform the Nation.

He explained how spirit, mind and body maintain balance to keep wellness and wholeness. He covered the role of Ayurveda in the context of globalization and its practice to address health challenges of the future during this masterclass.

Inspiring Journey of a Yogi Engineer – Dr. H. R. Nagendra

The CoE has organized an interactive masterclass with Dr. H. R. Nagendra, Hon’ble Chancellor, S- VYASA University. The interactive session unfolded the inspiring journey of Dr Nagendra’s life from a mechanical engineer to a Yoga researcher.

Dr Nagendra shared his experience of over five decades as academician, institutional leader and global ambassador of Yoga. He also emphasized the importance of practicing yoga daily and reconnecting our roots of Ayurveda and Yoga for holistic health. The session received an overwhelming participation of researchers, students and yoga aspirants.

Integrative Health – Dr. B. M. Hegde

Dr. B. M. Hegde is a well-known cardiologist and professor of medicine. He is known as a ‘People’s Doctor.

On the occasion of World Health Day 2017, Dr. B. M. Hegde enlightened the audience on the topic of Integrative Health. He, in his fluent way, explained how Ayurveda and Yoga can shape the future integrative medicine. He also identified and suggested corrective approaches in present medicine systems.
