Dr. Angeline Jeyakumar specialises in public health nutrition. Her broad research interests are maternal and child health. Her work among children concentrates on the epidemiology of undernutrition in underprivileged settings, its risk factors, and testing nutrition-sensitive and specific interventions. Including maternal health, her research focuses specifically on micronutrient deficiencies. She has intensively researched interventions for iron deficiency anemia and their sustainability through longitudinal studies. Without a national prevalence of vitamin D in India, she estimated the pooled prevalence of Vitamin D among adolescent girls and pregnant women through Meta-research. She coordinates the Integrative dietetics programme at the university that emphasises the importance of integrating traditional knowledge of dietetics with modern nutritional practice. With a Wellcome-trust DBT and ICSSR grant she currently collaborates with the Food Evolution Research Laboratory, University of Johannesburg, to compare nutrition transition in India and South Africa. Her collaborative work with Penn State University focuses on food insecurity, food away from home and emerging dietary habits
