A molecular biologist by training, Dr Preeti Chavan-Gautam graduated from Savitribai Phule Pune University with a bachelor's in Microbiology and a master’s degree in Health Sciences. She currently works in the field of Ayurveda Biology which includes the immune-adjuvant effects of Rasayana botanicals, exploring the mechanisms of action of Rasayana botanicals as therapeutic adjuvants, and Ayurveda interventions for diseases/disorders of public health concern. Her research interest also lies in studying mechanisms underlying adverse pregnancy outcomes, the impact of maternal nutrition and lifestyle factors on placental biology, and the effect of AYUSH interventions during the critical periods of development on mother and child health. She has previously received funding from ICMR, GoI and SERB, GoI to study the role of epigenetic mechanisms in preterm birth. Understanding the role of epigenetic mechanisms in health and disease is another area of interest.
